Plot summary
A late-night seance is attended by twelve people, among them Madame Orlofsky, Alfred Arnheim, Edwin Bonpree, Lady X, Miss Mills, the Butler, Mr. Bramley, Mrs. Bramley, Miss Daisy, the Cook, the Driver and the Jeweller. The medium says five secrets will come out before midnight, and that one more might follow, the darkest of all. The story moves in real time and in flashbacks.
