Plot summary
Noah Griffith is a college student on suspension who lives in New Jersey with his mother. When the Pedullas' babysitter cancels, Noah takes the job so his mother can keep her plans. Slater has severe anxiety, Blithe follows celebrities and covers herself in makeup, and Rodrigo, adopted from El Salvador, is a pyromaniac who keeps running off. The parents have barely left when the children begin misbehaving and Rodrigo smashes vases. Then Marisa phones, asking Noah to deliver cocaine to a party and promising sex in return. He agrees and takes the children with him to collect the drugs from her dealer, Karl Fairhurst. Rodrigo pockets a dinosaur egg that holds Karl's cocaine, and Karl phones to demand the egg back and ten thousand dollars, threatening to kill him.
