Plot summary
Monetero and his gang rob a train carrying three hundred thousand dollars in gold, getting past the soldiers guarding the convoy. The Stranger, a bounty hunter who has pursued Monetero for a long time, sees his chance. A banker named Clayton is sent to reclaim the gold at any cost, and he objects when the military condemns Monetero to death. The Stranger comes to Monetero's cell in the guise of a priest and offers to set him free for a share of the gold. Monetero distrusts the offer, snaps a medallion in half and hands over one piece, keeping the other.
