Plot summary
Simon Templar, known as the Saint, works as a private detective. Judy Fenton, a friend, asks him for help because gangsters are blackmailing her fiancé, Keith Merton. Soon after, Judy dies in a car accident that looks suspicious, and Templar sets out to find whoever is responsible for her death. Carol Denby helps him, and so does his valet, Hoppy Uniatz.

- Diana Dors was added to the cast of The Saint's Return only a week after shooting had already begun, a late addition made, the article says, to add a little spice to the picture.
- Tully Montgomery was originally signed to direct the film, but its star, Louis Hayward, asked to work with Seymour Friedman instead and got his wish.
- Louis Hayward had been the first actor to play Simon Templar, in The Saint in New York (1938), and returned to the role for The Saint's Return one last time.
