Plot summary
American soldier Bart Gregory is killed in Basra, Iraq, and wakes in his grave the night after his funeral, which his girlfriend Janet attended. He makes his way to the home of his pot-smoking best friend Joey Luebner, who cannot tell what Bart has become. A hospital visit fails, and at dawn Bart collapses; Joey telephones a nurse friend, Mathilda, for help. Between them they work out that Bart is a revenant, part zombie and part vampire, who must drink blood so his body does not decompose and who lies inert in daylight. Buying beer in Koreatown, the two stumble into a holdup, and Bart kills and feeds on the gangster.
