The Return of Superfly (1990) on Netflix

Plot summary

Youngblood Priest, a reformed drug dealer who has lived in Paris for ten years, comes back to New York when Eddie Baker, his old partner, is murdered. Customs officers detain him at the airport, and his former lawyer, Tom Perkins, arranges a meeting with Inspector Wolinski. The Drug Enforcement Agency offers Priest a bargain: he can go back to his old gang as an informant, though he says the gang is gone and his Paris business is legitimate. Wolinski gives him a week to decide. Perkins also tells crime boss Hector Estrada that federal agents are pressuring Priest, and Estrada puts Joey Maxwell, once Priest's employee, on the problem. Priest looks up his old partner Nate Cabot, and meets Francine, a club owner who knew Eddie well.
