Plot summary

An American crew digs into a three-sided pyramid buried below the Egyptian desert amid the country's political turbulence. Holden, a retired archaeology professor, leads the expedition; Nora works beside him, while the cameraman Fitzie and the producer Sunni record the dig. Engineer Zahir maps the interior with a remote-controlled rover. Unease in the country pushes them toward leaving, but the costly machine goes silent inside the structure, so they obtain two hours of cover from Corporal Shadid and go after it. The floor breaks under them and drops them thirty meters into a dark maze. Lost with no daylight in reach, they realize something else is in the pyramid with them.
