Plot summary

Assembled from archival footage that is rarely shown and from testimony that has only recently been revealed, this documentary follows Diana, Princess of Wales through the moments of her public life that are best known. It is told in the present tense, and no retrospective voices are heard at any point. Diana, the People's Princess, reaches a level of fame that has no parallel, and corrosive challenges come along with it. She is a symbol of two forces at once: the fractures running through the British monarchy and the way the press works on the person at the center of it.
