Plot summary
Laurel and Audrey are identical twins with opposite lives. Audrey is popular, sophisticated and successful, working in the city as a real estate agent, while Laurel is shy and awkward, still at home with their widowed father, Frank, helping him reproduce famous paintings. At their birthday party, Audrey talks Laurel into moving in with her. Before the move, Laurel has her hair cut, and the style makes her look like her twin. Driving home afterward, the two are in a serious crash. Laurel wakes in a hospital to the news that Audrey did not survive, and that the other body was burned past recognition. Amnesia from the accident leaves her unsure of her own name, and her haircut leads everyone to take her for Audrey. Once her memory returns, she chooses to let the mistake stand.
