Plot summary

Gunther Wheeler is unhappy when his family leaves New York City for Pleasant Valley. He meets his next-door neighbor Charlie Parker and the town's paperboys. Charlie suggests that Gunther take over Leonard's route for the summer, and Gunther says no. At the mall he develops a crush on Allison Robbins, a waitress, and is picked on by Chad, Luke and Wylee. He hears the bullies selling two concert tickets and offers 150 dollars for the pair to impress Allison. His father withdraws the money he promised after Gunther damages the pool, his brother Andrew refuses, and Gunther takes the paper route. His first morning brings pranks from children, a dog that jumps its fence, and Crazy Man Cooper, a former serviceman who ambushes him with a paintball gun and guard-geese. The last stop on the route is Allison's house.
