Plot summary
In the 1960s, the Elster family sets its own plans aside when a summons arrives from the estate of a relative who has died. Evelyn Elster was long estranged from the cousin she has now inherited from, and she reads the fortune as the break her household has been waiting for. The money is not all the estate hands over: a family curse arrives with it. Inside the house, the family contends with sinister paintings on its walls, rituals it does not recognize and occurrences it cannot explain. Their task is to keep the curse from taking any of them as its next victims.
