Plot summary
After her husband Brian dies, Naomi Wallace has no job and no money, so she and her teenage son Logan move into her sister's secluded mountain chalet and stay there until the property sells. Every Sunday the chalet is open to buyers, and mother and son must leave after breakfast and stay away until after five in the afternoon. Strange things happen in the house: objects are moved or vanish, the phone rings with nobody on the other end, and the pilot light on the hot water tank keeps going out. Martha, an elderly neighbor, behaves oddly, and Chris, a store clerk, is friendly but persistent.
