Plot summary
Tunde Johnson, a gay Nigerian-American teenager, has been seeing Soren O'Connor, the white lacrosse champion at his school, in secret. Soren is closeted and dates Marley Meyers in public, and Marley has been Tunde's closest friend since childhood. The two boys have chosen Soren's birthday to tell their families about themselves, but a police officer stops Tunde that day and fatally shoots him. He wakes on the previous morning. From there the same day comes back again and again, and the shooting happens in new ways no matter what he does to change it. The loop gives him no choice but to look at hard facts about his own life.
