Plot summary
Susan Stevenson arrives in Papua New Guinea with her brother Arthur, searching for Henry, her husband, an anthropologist who disappeared in the jungle. They enlist Professor Edward Foster, who suspects that Henry made for Ra Ra Me, a mountain just off the coast of the island of Roka. The local people hold that mountain to be cursed, and the authorities refuse permission for any expedition, so the three slip into the jungle unannounced. They quarrel among themselves, meet anacondas, alligators and tarantulas, and at a nearby mission camp they fall in with another jungle explorer, Manolo, who agrees to join their expedition.
