Plot summary
The Mortician works alone in a morgue, isolated from the city around him. His boss introduces him to Noah, a volatile young man on parole who has been assigned as his assistant. Noah brings the gangster Carver and his crew to the mortuary door. When the body of a murdered woman is brought in, the mortician notices the tattoo of Botticelli's Birth of Venus on her skin, and it stirs haunting dreams from his own childhood. He finds Kane, a frightened child, fleeing the morgue, and the boy's fear pushes him to act. The two become reluctant allies, and the mortician begins reconnecting with a past he had long closed off.
