Plot summary
At Longleys Farm near Hailsham, on the Pevensey Levels in Sussex, Stephen Hook keeps a herd of 55 cows and sells their milk raw and unpasteurized, without sending it to a dairy. The operation began with his father Phil, who is still part of the working farm alongside Stephen's wife and four children. Stephen's aim is to keep the farm going, though the power of the supermarkets presses on small British dairy farms, which are told to grow or shut. He holds to his own way of farming instead, tending the animals himself and giving particular attention to Ida, a Friesian of twelve years. Filming took place over four years.
