Plot summary

Four stories of love unfold in Rome, and characters pass from one to the next: a background figure in an episode becomes the lead of the following one. Tommaso meets Giulia by chance and is smitten immediately, though she does not respond in kind at first. Barbara and Marco are a couple in crisis, close to divorce; she is full of initiative, while he grows more set in his routine. Ornella works as a traffic police officer, and after her husband's infidelity she takes her anger out on the motorists she stops, her strict application of every rule making her known across the city. Goffredo is a wealthy doctor whose wife Margherita has left him, and he keeps trying to bring her back.
