Plot summary
A surgeon waits while his fifteen-year-old daughter Angela is operated on after a motorcycle accident. Through the window he sees a woman in red heels sit in the rain on a chair below, and he turns away, as if he knows those shoes. He thinks back to a hot day in an unfamiliar town, where he sat drinking in a bar. Italia, an Albanian woman who works there, invites him to use the telephone in her home. Drunk, he forces himself on her in the flat, and afterward he pretends to love her. Timoteo is married to Elsa, and the affair goes on.
