Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Man From Laramie (1955)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Producer Aaron Rosenberg said James Stewart and Anthony Mann never made another Western after The Man from Laramie because of their fight over Night Passage: Mann objected to Audie Murphy's casting, called the film "trash", quit, and was replaced by James Neilson. Stewart was so angry the two men never spoke again.
- The Man from Laramie was shot in Technicolor and was one of the first Westerns to be filmed in CinemaScope, the widescreen process used to capture the vastness of the scenery.
- The film's theme song became a bigger hit in Britain than in the United States: Jimmy Young's UK recording topped the UK Singles Chart in October 1955, while Al Martino's American version peaked at number 19 that September.
- Impressed by Anthony Mann's work on the then-unreleased Devil's Doorway, James Stewart personally chose him to direct Winchester '73 after Fritz Lang left that production, starting the partnership that led to The Man from Laramie.
