Plot summary
A middle-aged man in Los Angeles, William Dorn, plants and sets off bombs at places he connects to his daughter's drug-overdose death and to the collapse of his own life. Detective Geronimo Minnelli works the case and finds that one of the bomber's targets, a hospital, was also the scene of a rape. Martha, the woman attacked there, and her rapist George Fromley may both have seen the bomber's face, which is still unidentified. Police Chief Marc C. Forester heads the department while Minnelli and Blake work to catch both violent men at once, expecting that finding one will lead them to the other.
