Plot summary
Five men are dead in Glasgow, and the public has nicknamed the killer the Body Parts Killer, because pieces of the victims arrive by post to their families. Inspector Holdall and Callum MacPherson have made no progress in two months, so Chief Superintendent McManaman takes the case from them and gives it to June Robertson. Barney Thomson, meanwhile, has spent twenty years cutting hair at Henderson's Barbers, where the son of the owner, Wullie Henderson, now keeps him away from the customers. When Wullie tells Barney his chair is going to a new barber, a struggle leaves Wullie dead, and a panicked Barney bags the body and puts it in his car.
