Plot summary
Oriah "Ry" Pera, a professional dancer in Houston, collapses during a performance and learns she has tuberous sclerosis complex, the cause of her epilepsy. Doctors and her mother Isolde press her to have surgery that would remove the tubers in her brain; Ry, afraid of losing her memory, chooses medication she must take several times a day. Isolde's work brings the two of them to Mallorca, where Amara, a receptionist her own age, befriends her and points her toward the island's beaches. Ry meets Julian Garcia, a fisherman whose work is struggling as tourism grows. Ry is warned that alcohol and drugs work against her medication.
