Plot summary
Louis Schneider works for the Judiciary Police Regional Service in Marseilles, where drink has cost him his standing. After he hijacks a bus and forces its driver to take him home at gunpoint, officers arrest him and he is pulled off a serial killer investigation, given night-shift paperwork instead. Charles Subra, in prison for murdering the parents of two girls years earlier, tells a probation committee that he has found God and regrets his crimes, and may be released early. Schneider trusts none of it, and neither does Justine Maxence, who lost her parents to Subra; she knows Schneider brought the man to justice once and hopes he can do it again.
