Plot summary
Gerald and Marianne Harcourt are on their honeymoon in Bavaria in the early 20th century. They run out of petrol on the road, so they take a room at a village inn and wait for a cart to bring more fuel. The inn is kept by Bruno. That evening they accept a dinner invitation from Doctor Ravna, whose chateau stands above the village, and there they meet his children, Carl and Sabena. The family is charming, and Ravna is a man of standing in the community. A costume ball is to be held at the chateau, and the Harcourts are among the guests.

Kiss of the Vampire's climax of black magic and swarming bats was originally intended to be the ending of Hammer's earlier The Brides of Dracula, but that film's star Peter Cushing objected that Van Helsing would never resort to black sorcery.- Retitled Kiss of Evil for American television, Universal cut the film so heavily that new footage had to be shot to fill the missing time, featuring actors Carl Esmond, Virginia Gregg and Sheilah Wells.

The finale's bat attack was shot with plastic bats; director Don Sharp called it a chaotic day when everyone believed they were on to something and people started taking chances, a scene he was very proud of.
