Clifford Evans

Clifford Evans was a Welsh actor who appeared at London's Open Air Theatre in a 1934 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream and took numerous roles in British films of the 1930s. He continued acting during the Second World War, starring in The Foreman Went to France (1942) and The Flemish Farm (1943). His best known screen work came for Hammer Studios, where he played Don Alfredo Carledo in The Curse of the Werewolf (1961) and the often inebriated vampire hunter Professor Zimmer in Kiss of the Vampire (1963). On television he appeared alongside George Woodbridge and Tim Turner in Stryker of the Yard (1957), a 15-episode series, played building tycoon Caswell Bligh in The Power Game from 1965 to 1969, and was among the actors who played Number Two in The Prisoner. He played Sir Iain Dalzell in the BBC series Codename (1970), and his last screen role was Granada TV's A Land of Ice Cream in 1985.
