Plot summary
Luca Canali is a small-time pimp in Milan who is blamed when a heroin shipment goes missing between Italy and New York. Two professional killers, Dave Catania and Frank Webster, fly in from New York to find him and put him down. Their presence on his turf irritates Don Vito Tressoldi, the local mafia boss, who is forced to cooperate and turns his city-wide network of informants loose to collect Canali. Canali's own friends are among those asked to give him up, and he narrowly evades the searches closing in on him, keeping clear of both the Americans and the Milanese mob.

- Quentin Tarantino, a self-avowed fan of Fernando Di Leo's films, said the hitmen Dave and Frank were the inspiration for Vincent Vega and Jules Winfield, played by John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson, in Pulp Fiction.
- Mario Adorf performed his own stunts in the film's car chase scene, and unlike Caliber 9 he also did his own dubbing for the English-language version.
