In Spokane, engineer Allan Campbell owes money to loan shark Dom Estacado, who has threatened to kill him unless he pays. At his apartment, Allan catches his best friend Mike Dodd leaving and believes Mike and his wife Sydney are involved. He storms off to a bar, where a stranger, Jonas Arbor, claims to be a professional killer.
