The Heart of the Game (2005) on Netflix

Plot summary

A University of Washington tax law professor, Bill Resler, becomes coach of the Roosevelt Roughriders, the girls' basketball team at a predominantly white, upper-class Seattle high school. He motivates his players with animal and nature themes and tells them they can win a Washington State championship. Two years later, Darnellia Russell enrolls at Roosevelt and makes the junior varsity squad. Resler notices her natural talent and moves her up to the varsity team. In the seasons that follow, the Roughriders come close to a state title but lose tight games, and Russell's play draws letters of interest from major universities.
