Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Green Ray (1986)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Rohmer gathered his cast before the shoot and let every actor invent their own dialogue, and said lead actress Marie Rivière "is the one who called the shots" — by what she said, how she questioned people, and the questions her character drew from the others.
- Rohmer shot the film chronologically on 16 mm so Delphine could blend into the crowd and her isolation stand out, and told cinematographer Sophie Maintigneux to keep the shoot's technical side to a minimum so as not to distract the actors.
- The film's only major expense was a trip to the Canary Islands, made to film the green rays there.
