Plot summary
An orphan boy hides a magical antelope whose hooves strike gold from the ground, and a raja's hunting party rides away empty-handed. The antelope thanks him by telling him where to find her whenever he needs help. A servant sees the meeting and demands that the boy reveal where she is hiding. He refuses, and monkeys throw coconuts at the servant until he flees. The servant carries the news to the raja, who orders the boy seized. The boy pulls the same servant free of a tiger, and the servant still has him arrested. The raja demands ten gold coins by sunrise or the boy's head.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Golden Antelope (1954)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The human figures in The Golden Antelope were recorded with a rotoscope, and the 1954 Soviet film makes considerable use of traced live-action scenes.
- Animator Leonid Shvartsman drew all the characters except the antelope — drawn by Natalia Stroganova, a student of wildlife artist Vasily Vatagin — and spent hours in the Lenin Library going through albums about India and Sikhs to create the Raja, his assistant, guards, the tiger and the boy.
- Ruben Simonov, who voiced the Raja, wore a turban and a khalat and walked hunched over with his hands behind his back, just like his character; Leonid Shvartsman said Simonov brought a lot to the role with his gait, gestures and intonations.
- In 2021 Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin opened the Soyuzmultpark multimedia center at the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy, with four interactive zones based on Soviet animated films including The Golden Antelope, where visitors can make their own cartoons.
