Plot summary
Alan and Kate Marlowe are out walking with their children Davy, Lucy, Sam and baby Matthew when Kate meets a pregnant stranger, who comes home with the family. Before Alan can drive her anywhere, the woman goes into labor, and Kate helps deliver a baby girl. The next morning she has gone, leaving the newborn behind. Kate wants to keep her, and though Alan has doubts, the baby stays and is named Bonnie. Bonnie grows up alongside the other four children, and then the children start dying in accidents, leaving Kate and Alan to wonder what the girl they took in really is.
