Plot summary

Tim is a devoted street artist whose silver-painted act does not bring in enough to live on. His chosen career costs him his girlfriend, who breaks up with him over it. Janice is in her thirties and has not learned how to navigate adulthood; when she is evicted from her apartment she moves in with her overbearing sister, Jill. Jill pushes her toward Doug, an egotistical self-help guru, and Janice wants nothing to do with him. Janice and Tim both take jobs at the zoo, where they work together and slowly form a lighthearted friendship, running into each other a couple of times away from work.
