Plot summary
A wedding joins two men, and the authorities answer it with an arrest. That story runs alongside others in a film with almost no dialogue. A woman, perhaps the Madonna, has just given birth; photographers in balaclavas press in on her and she tries to get away. Photographers and cisgender women humiliate and shame a trans woman, over the sound of a fox hunt. Jesus wanders a present-day landscape of electrical transmission lines. Twelve women in babushkas sit at a table by the sea, running their fingers around the rims of wine glasses until the glasses give out an ominous hum. Water drips from a crucifix bearing an image of Christ. The film draws on the crucifixion story, putting a gay couple in place of Christ.
