The Games Maker (2014) on Netflix

Plot summary

Ivan Drago sends an entry to a contest for board game inventors and finishes first, but the grand prize is a temporary tattoo that will not come off. His father then reaches out to Ivan's grandfather Nicholas, from whom the family has long been apart. His parents go missing during a balloon race, and Ivan is sent to a strict school, where the teachers and his classmates make their dislike of him clear. He leaves the school for Zyl, the games capital, and his grandfather Nicholas. There he learns that a piece is missing from the town's jigsaw puzzle and that the mark on his skin is the symbol of Morodian, the man who took the piece and brought Zyl down from its place as the greatest game-making town.
