Plot summary
Mohamed Lundy spent at least 17 years in prison for a crime he did not commit before the Innocence Project won his release. He now works at the Second Chance animal shelter in Louisiana, which Linda Workman runs. Doris and her husband John, a police officer, bring in a badly injured dog that has to be put down. Doris comes back to the shelter on her own, unable to care for herself, and Mohamed takes her in without telling anyone. She stays hidden in his apartment while he keeps working at the shelter, and no one knows she is there.
