Plot summary
A band of Jin guards, the Ming's imperial guards, slips into General Li's palace in the early Qing Dynasty and carries the legendary Chicken Cup away with them. Three hundred years on, at a temple, the treasure hunter David Wong comes for the cup and He Fan dies defending it. He Fan's son He Xingyun survives, and the cup sinks into a nearby lake. Years pass, and the cup surfaces again at an auction, where hunters seize it. He Xingyun, the last Jin guard, fights them off. The boy Li Moxun watches him fight and wants to become his disciple.
