Plot summary
Tara is a pretty and talented teenager, but at school she has no friends. One day she comes home and is kidnapped and drugged. She comes to in a mansion, where a woman in a nurse's uniform watches over her. When Tara telephones her mother, her mother sounds strangely calm about it. The woman begins asking invasive personal questions, and when Tara realizes how far from home she is and tries to run, the woman and her male partner lock her in the basement. There she finds Johnny, a boy who cannot speak, so he writes in the dust to communicate. He is sweet and kind, and he helps her read cryptic warnings on the walls.
