Plot summary
Dylan is the only person left in a town emptied by a virus, living on the Red Cross relief station his father started and the supplies that remain. A Cleaner Team from Amherst Industries comes to wipe out survivors, and a sleeper agent, Agent-753, shoots the pair down, takes their SUV and leaves a broken robot behind. Dylan takes the robot in and names it SAM, first using its battery to run an old Red Cross laptop. When SAM reports it can reach satellites and the internet, Dylan finds a government alert marking Safe Zones on a regional map, and the two set out for Safe Zone 57.
