Plot summary
Dr. Samantha Goodman is a clinical psychiatrist at an institution for the criminally insane, and one of the patients in her care has attacked her. Her marriage to David has gone sour, and an inoperable brain tumor keeps growing. She wants a weekend away, so she goes to a remote winter cabin, where David means to edit his latest book with help from her younger sister Melody. Adrian, a young man asking for shelter from the cold, gets inside and pulls a gun, letting in his partner, Harlan Pyne. Harlan, a convicted murderer and sex offender, was once under Sam's care and is unhappy with the experimental treatment he was given. He makes the three of them play games through the night.
