Plot summary
Eva, a young widow in the 19th century, runs a remote fishing outpost on an Arctic bay. She inherited it when her husband, Magnus, was lost in a shipwreck on the jagged rocks known as the Teeth. A snowbound mountain journey separates the outpost from the nearest village, and the catch has fallen so low that the crew has eaten bait. With her are the helmsman Ragnar, the cook Helga and the crewmen Daníel, Hákon, Jónas, Skúli and Aron. One morning a ship goes aground on the Teeth with survivors aboard, and Eva must decide what the outpost can spare.
