Plot summary
Selma is eleven years old. Her mother did not survive her birth, and her step aunt is, to Selma, proof that men cause trouble and nothing else. Selma and her best friends strike a deal: they will keep away from boys and give their lives to science. Selma also holds the idea that she was born on another planet, which would explain why falling in love was never part of the plan. Then her own friends break the deal, and a boy who is not like the others comes into her life, while nature works against everything she has decided to believe.
