Plot summary
Martin, Roy, Erlend and Vegard, all medical students, drive to a remote cabin near Øksfjord for the Easter vacation, and Hanna, Liv and Chris join them there. The cabin belongs to Vegard's girlfriend Sara, who is not there; they assume she is out on the snow. A hiker arrives and tells the history of the region: during the war an Einsatzgruppe under Herzog occupied the area, tortured the local people and looted the town, and the citizens ambushed the soldiers. The survivors, Herzog among them, were chased into the mountains and were thought to have frozen to death. The hiker moves on. In the morning Vegard takes his snowmobile out to look for Sara. The others are attacked by undead soldiers in World War II uniforms.

- Writer-director Tommy Wirkola said that when he and his team sat down to write the script they decided a Nazi-zombie was more evil than a plain zombie, and that they combined the real World War II history of northern Norway with their own story.
- Tommy Wirkola deliberately made his zombies old-fashioned cursed ones rather than plague or virus ones, saying he wanted the film to be like a ghost story mixed with Indiana Jones.
