Plot summary

Barney Snow regains consciousness in a hospital bed and cannot recall why he is there. He knows his name and holds a few vague images of a car crash, and he assumes the amnesia is what the clinic is treating him for. Settling in, he finds that the other young people at the clinic are all living with terminal illnesses. Mazzo, a fellow patient, asks Barney to entertain his twin sister Cassie while she visits, and Barney falls for her. Wanting to see her somewhere other than a hospital room gives him a reason to work at getting better, and he wants his past back so that she can be part of his future.
