Plot summary
Prince Tsoi, a Manchu lord who rose by using his Lohan Fist against Ming rebels, visits a Shaolin temple, where those rebels have marked him for assassination. Shao Hai, an unworldly kung fu enthusiast who earns his living as the temple's janitor, watches from the roofs and shouts a warning when incognito assassins close in. The guards drive the attackers off, and the prince thanks him for it. The attention goes to Shao Hai's head and he alienates the people around him. His drunken uncle, once a head monk and the man who taught him martial arts, wants to know which style the prince practices. Told it is Lohan, he pushes Shao Hai to ask the prince for lessons. Tsoi, suspicious, agrees.
