Plot summary
Bo Richards receives $200 from his grandparents as a graduation gift, and he and Roy Alston, with factory jobs waiting in their hometown, decide to spend it on a trip to Los Angeles. On the road they hold up a gas station, striking the attendant with a tire iron. At the Venice Beach Boardwalk the following day, Roy throws an empty beer bottle; it strikes an older woman in the head. Three young women who witnessed it chase the pair into a parking lot and damage their car. Roy circles the lot with the women holding on to the hood before throwing the car into reverse. At the La Brea Tar Pits, Bo wishes the world could abandon its rules for a single day.
