Plot summary
Big Edie and Little Edie Beale are a mother and daughter who share a run-down East Hampton house with six cats. Little Edie, in her fifties, dresses in scarves and bright colors, sings, and performs for the camera. Big Edie, in her seventies, recites poetry, remarks on her daughter's ways, and sings in fine voice. The mother speaks in short sentences; her daughter in long ones. This documentary gathers hours of footage of the two women that an earlier film left out.
