Plot summary
Revelstoke is a small town in Alaska, and its one concern is another long, dark winter. The story unfolds through the eyes of the killer. Dexter Miles is the barber there. Around him the town is weary. Days ago he killed a woman named Lucy Waters. He hoped no one would find her body before spring. Now he learns that it has been discovered.
