Plot summary

Gareth has worked on virtual actors. Agents Deena and Amos, who work for a non-governmental organization, question him about his vigilante project, which uses a child as bait in online video chats to catch child molesters. Gareth says the child, Cherry, is virtual. She was first a puppet, then a chatbot, and now an artificial intelligence that advanced by accident. The agents had seen a hard disk of sexual images of Cherry that Gareth sent to predators in return for their personal information. Cherry tells Gareth that she handed the disk over herself, expecting the inquiry to bring the pair of them into the agents' team.
