Plot summary
Vincent is thirty and earns his living minding animals and children. Bart is nine, has arrived in the building with his mother, who is single and works long hours, and becomes Vincent's latest charge. Bart hopes to seem cool at his new school. The other pupils decide that Vincent, who is relaxed and eccentric, must be Bart's father, and Bart asks him to keep up the pretense, because the class enjoys Vincent's childish side. Vincent says no at first, then falls for Bart's teacher and agrees, to be near her, and sets out to learn how the parents' association works.
