Plot summary

Eighteen young adults have signed up for a Phase 3 trial of A9913, an experimental memory drug, at the Hallorann Laboratory, and Anna, an unemployed waitress, joins them for the money. Dr. Jerrems tells the recruits that half of them will get the drug and half a placebo, and that all of them must remain in the building to be monitored. Anna gets to know Den, Kristen and Marcus. When the injections take effect, Marcus and Kristen begin to recall events that have not yet happened, which Kristen compares to déjà vu. Anna also has visions, of the other participants dying. Curtis, the nurse monitoring the subjects, sedates her when she tries to leave.
